Dr Lilli Waltraud Hildegard Sollbach, Herbst geboren. Mom lived independently and on her own terms and in her own house until she was hosptalized May 31st. She bravely fought cancer for 29 years until she became too old, tired and weak to fight any more. But mentally she was strong and sharp right till the end.
Born January 9, 1927 in Kassel Germany and grew up in Battenberg where her father was the forest manager. She studied nursing from 1949 to 1952 in Wuerzburg, and from 1952 through 1955 she studied medicine at the University of Marburg. She was a resident in Winnipeg where she passed her American medical exam in 1961 and became a radiologist in 1963 practicing in Windsor and Pembroke.
Predeceased by loving parents Hilda and Max and aunts Lilli, Olga, Marlie and uncle Otto. Already greatly missed by friends, co-workers, neighbors, and family of course. Sons Ralph and Edward, grandchildren Daniel and Katherine, daughter in law Youlande, and sister Gisela, nephew Reiner, and niece Sibylle in Germany. For friends and family she was the rock, a strong willed matriarch who was very matter of fact and never complained, even with her health declining. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Montfort Hospital Foundation where she received such great care.
A memorial service will be held June 20th at noon at the German Martin Luther Church in Ottawa (www.glco.org 499 Preston Street Ottawa, near Carling).
